Attorney Bradford T. Atwood

Bradford T. Atwood

ATTORNEY

In Memoriam
1958-2020

Our colleague and friend, Brad Atwood, died unexpectedly on Monday, November 16, 2020 of previously undiagnosed pancreatic cancer. He was 62. Brad had been a member of our law firm for _____ years having been an attorney in the Upper Valley since 1991, licensed to practice in both New Hampshire and Vermont. Many neighbors and local businesses drew upon his expertise in real estate law, real estate related litigation, such as land use (planning and zoning) matters,  commercial and residential real estate transactions, probate estate administration, commercial arbitration, and appellate advocacy. He had successfully argued appeals before both the Vermont and New Hampshire Supreme Courts.

After graduating from Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts in 1976, he went on to earn his undergraduate B.A. degree in geology and geography from Denison University. Ten years later, he earned his J.D., cum laude, and his Masters Degree in Environmental Law, magna cum laude, from the Vermont Law School in 1990.

Brad was dedicated to his clients. They appreciated his humor, his good nature, and his strong sense of fairness, as he responded to their particular grievance. He was committed to his family and community, where he received acclaim not only for his gardening and fly fishing prowess, but also for his many volunteer hours. Brad served on the Board of Directors of Gifford Health Care, and was on the Board of Trustees of Gifford Medical Center in Randolph, Vermont. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Tri-Valley Transit, Inc., a non-profit organization which provides public transportation services in Addison, Windsor and Orange Counties in Vermont. In Sharon, VT where Brad resided, he served as President of the Board of Trustees of The Sharon Academy, an independent grade 7-12 school, and as chair of the Selectboard of the Town of Sharon.

We were grateful to have Brad with us and we miss him.
